I’m Portia Grant, owner and licensed esthetician of The Beauty Guru. As a graduate of Aveda Institute, I wanted to create a business centered around my love of natural remedies coupled with corrective skincare, body treatments, full body waxing and vajacials. Although women of color are my specialty, The Beauty Guru is a brand built to cater to multicultural skin in every aspect. I pride myself on creating lasting connections with clients while influencing the world of beauty. My primary purpose is to enable women to see what they may not always feel, which is their inner beauty.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, working out, indulging in spa treatments and  spending time with loves ones.

Frequently asked questions

  • What can I expect from a facial service?
    The facial experience with The Beauty Guru is pure bliss! The environment will be serene with aromatherapy and low lights. It is advised to come in with bare skin, but not a must. You will recieve a preclease, cleanse, exfoliation (chemical or manual), any corrective procedures deemed by the esthetician, choice of neck/shoulder or hand/arm massage, serums, moisturizers and most importantly SPF!
  • How do I book an appointment?
    In order to book an appointment with The Beauty Guru, you must either click the "BOOK NOW" button on the homepage which will lead you to a direct booking site. Alternatively, you can go right to the booking site (www.thebeautyguru.as.me). You may then choose your desired service, pay a deposit and your appointment will be set!
  • How long will it take to see results from skincare services?
    Results from skincare services are tentative to each individual client. With every facial, you will notice healthier skin at the conclusion of the serivce. However, when it comes to corrective treatments, the process can range from 2 weeks to 3 months. Skincare is 20/80, meaning 20% of esthetician treatments and 80% of home care. Remember great skin is a marathon, not a sprint.
  • I've never had body waxing. Will it hurt?
    Pain is relative to each individual, but the short answer is that waxing is not the most comfortable. When booking waxing services, I provide pre treatment advice to allow the process be less painful. Additinally, I will be a gentle as possible, especially for first time clients.
